Art of India found in Embroidered Anarkali suits

Every region has its own specialised design and nature of embroidery developed over the years. Embroidery is an art that has been treasured for centuries by the skilled artisans all over the world. The richness of the art is recognized in the fine skill and the neat design in the work of the craftsman. In India, we have many types of embroideries over the years that are unique and exclusive to its region.  There are many varieties of embroidery from Zardozi to Kantha work, Lucknowi to cross-stitch.

Embroidery has found its place of work through different ways from a dress like salwar suits to sarees. There are now various embroidered Anarkali suits which are extremely popular. The trend to wear embroidered ethnic wear India has been popular in India for decades. In fact, a heavily embroidered outfit is treasured and worn on festive or special occasions only. Some of the embroideries are done with threads made from real gold. This was usually the case amongst the royal families. They hand these rich embroidered garments as a part of their heritage to the next generation. Especially amongst women, it is considered a traditional practise to have the mother preparing heavy embroidered garments as a part of the wedding trousseau from the time the daughter has been born. This is not just limited to royal families only, in fact, it is the traditional practise found in almost every Indian household. This is a significant gesture that portrays in many ways how a daughter is been treasured for life. In recent times rich and creative work of the embroidery is disappearing from today’s modern world. Replaced by the ready-made patches that can be attached as per one’s own discretion does give the feasibility. However, at the same time, it is slowly diminishing the demand for the original craft thus creating a huge job loss for these artisans and impacting their livelihood.
