How to Care for Designer Embroidered Salwar Suits?

Wish to keep your embroidered clothes looking beautiful and new for years to come? In this blog we will be mentioning few tips for taking care of your embroidered kurtis, salwar suits or saris.

Hand-washing and air-drying are two of the gentlest options for taking care of embroidered salwar suits. In case you are using the washing machine, remember to turn the garment inside out so that the embroidery is protected from abrasion. It is recommended to wash such clothes separately. If you wash it with clothing items that have metal hardware such as zippers, it can damage the embroidery.

You can use cold water for washing if you are worried that the color from the embroidery thread will bleed onto the fabric. If there is color bleeding, you need to rinse the cloth in cold water till the color is gone.

When ironing the clothes, make sure the iron doesn’t touch the embroidery directly. Remember to use dry heat feature on the iron. Avoid using steam on embroidered clothes because the stabilizer might shrink up due to steam, creating a puckered look.

In case bleach is required for the clothing, always use a small amount of chlorine bleach. When using non-chlorine bleach, go with the instructions mentioned on the garment. An embroidered piece of clothing should never be left soaking in water or in a pile when wet.

Another very important tip to have beautiful embroidered clothes in your wardrobe is to choose a reputed clothing company. There are several manufacturers of Indian designer suits for ladies in the market so make sure you do some research before choosing one. Only a reputed company makes use of high quality fabric, threads and other embroidery materials on salwar suits and other ethnic clothing items.
